Students: give your career a headstart by building your alumni network

This time of year if full of good student intentions. Many moons ago, when I was a student, I signed up for about a dozen student clubs, including innertube water polo.

Sadly, once classes started, a lot of those intentions disappeared. I never attended the pool once.

One intention that I would encourage students to start from the moment they start university is to start building their alumni network. These are the graduates that came before you. They might be neighbors, friends, friends of friends, even an alumni mentor. This is a perfect 'Alum from Day One' attitude to start college off right!

Dr Chris Cornthwaite interviewed me earlier this month for Roostervane.com. The result? An article entitled: The Career Boost Students Miss: Your Alumni Network. Access the full interview here
