Building momentum for #alumnidecade

Promoting and celebrating alumni potential in 2024!

Happy New Year!

The sun is shining today in Dublin as 2024 brings a stretch in those short winter days.

Before publishing The Alumni Way I had a vision for a movement centred around alumni potential. In my online manifesto I called for a connection revolution. I believe alumni can spearhead this movement. You can read the original #alumnidecade article here.

As we enter a new year it is a good time to ask:

  • Are alumni collectively creating social impact?

For alumni-facing professionals:

  • Are we offering ways to showcase, celebrate alumni social impact?

  • Are we orchestrating opportunities to enable alumni to create social impact for our students, at our institutions and in our communities?

For students and alumni:

  • Are you seeking out inspiring stories from fellow alumni?

  • Are you considering ways to connect with fellow alumni to collectively create positive change?

The Alumni Way promotes reflection as a key trait of savvy alumni. In lieu of a challenge so early in the year, give yourself time to ponder the questions above.

I believe awareness of the potential of alumni is growing. Governments, organisations, companies and educational institutions are building new alumni networks. Let’s keep the #alumnidecade momentum going!

(and feel free to use the hashtag #alumnidecade if you want to share your thoughts on social!)

If you want to inspire your alumni (or alumni professionals) this year, let’s talk about a workshop, webinar or speaking engagement - book a time and let’s explore!

Wishing you a happy, healthy and alumni inspired 2024!

 Quote from #alumnidecade manifesto!

"Embrace your alumni self. Alumni in all those rich and exciting shared experiences that bring a smile to your face. Reconnect with these organisations, schools, colleges, universities, and people that can collectively enhance your personal and professional life…We can collectively improve our local communities, open businesses, create new initiatives, transform other people’s lives."
