A Birthday Review

Time for an Alumni Check-In

Dear Friends,

It's my birthday weekend! I started with Alumni Friday birthday review ala The Alumni Way annual activity.  What does that mean? Take the time for an alumni check-in!

  • Make sure your contact details are correct with your alma mater (happy to report that I am up-to-date!)

  • Check your preferences on the alumni online communities – sometimes the default isn’t ideal – dial up or down the amount of information you are getting from these sites. Haven't signed up yet? Be curious and see what's offered by your university that may be of benefit for you or someone in your network.

  • Grab a cup of tea and read your alumni magazine – I have two beckoning issues. I am indulging today!

This yearly check-in is for you. Everyone. Essential for the alumni-facing professional too. In our do-do-do world of alumni relations, advancement, and career services, we forget about nurturing our own alumni spirit. It's easy to fall out of love with reading our own alumni magazines and keeping track of our own alumni-ness. Rekindle your inner alumni romantic!

Your challenge this week (for all!):

Complete the alumni check-in! It’s that simple. Find joy again in alumni stories and the reconnection.

For an extra bonus, encourage a fellow alum to do the same – share the benefits of keeping in touch! I take all your birthday wishes as implied

If you would like to explore how to rekindle the alumni romance with your alumni, your alumni team or with your alumni strategy – please do reach out (no cake or candles required!) let’s talk!  Did you know I can work with you to design a stellar practical workshop or webinar and offer an energizing keynote? I've worked with over 70 organisations across 20-plus countries. If you have an idea we can explore it together!

With festive alumni greetings,

Maria
