Cool AI alumni e-mail tool to try!
Dear Friends:
After a week of travels to Berlin for a terrific workshop with 25 alumni professionals, I am playing catch-up. Ashley Budd, super advancement professional from Cornell and co-author of Mailed It! created a ChatGPT specifically for alumni professionals.
So I tried it. With this prompt: "write a 200 word email to alumni professionals inspiring them to consider using ChatGBT to energize alumni to reconnect with their alma mater. Use The Alumni Way and Maria Gallo's flair of writing for the email."
Voila! 30 seconds later and this was the result:

My flair? Not so sure, check out The Alumni Way Blog for my human from-the-heart archives Alumni Friday inspiration. I maintain that while this is an effective tool, it needs a human touch - yes flair!- to best assemble the other AI - alumni intelligence- that we are trying to harness. Wijnand Aalderink explored the Alumni Intelligence idea stating alumni as 'knowledge partners', teaching us to 'take a more outside-in way of thinking' to result in better external engagement and connections for students. ChatGPT can't do this without deep personal connection.
Your challenge this week (for all - have fun!):
Try out the Mailed It ChatGPT tool - consider how this can be a starting point to harnessing Alumni Intelligence within your institution (or connections for yourself as a student or alum!). This could be an e-mail calling for alumni leaders or to create a DM asking a fellow alum for an introduction to another member of the alumni community. Ta-da! (or Ta-Do if you need to celebrate what you already do well!) Magic!
